Anna SANDOR is originally from Hungary and holds a BSc in wildlife management and an MSc in environmental sciences and policy. She began her international career leading conservation projects in the field, notably in Georgia, where she was involved in community-based conservation initiatives and in making a documentary movie on illegal hunting of raptors, and in Switzerland, where she worked for almost ten years as an ornithologist.
In recent years, Anna has become more involved in international biodiversity policy, notably coordinating the EU and its Member States’ viewpoints on a key agenda item at CBD COP16, devoted to Article 8(j) on the role of Indigenous Peoples and local communities. She was also lead negotiator at IPBES 11 for the Transformative Change Assessment. In May 2025, she joined the FRB as Operational Manager to support the Operational Team of Biodiversa+, with a particular focus on the promotion of nature-based solutions (NbS) and international collaboration.
