Marie-Elodie PERGA

The research of Marie-Elodie Perga focuses primarily on the impacts of environmental change on lake ecosystems. After working on African reservoirs and Canadian coastal lakes, she now studies high-altitude Alpine lakes, Lake Geneva, and other peri-Alpine lakes. Her work addresses both the biogeochemistry and ecology of these systems across multiple spatial and temporal scales.

Her methods are highly diverse, ranging from palaeoecological reconstructions based on lake sediments to field monitoring at both high and low temporal resolution, laboratory experiments, and numerical modelling. Her goal is to understand how matter circulates through aquatic ecosystems and the resulting consequences for greenhouse gas emissions and dissolved oxygen concentrations.
