Mickaël HEDDE
INRAEResearch Director at the INRAE Eco&Sols Research Unit, Montpellier
Mickael HEDDE is a Research Director at INRAE – Eco&Sols. His research aims to understand the processes that determine the diversity of soil organisms, their interactions, and the ecological functions associated with their activities. He addresses these questions across a range of spatial and temporal scales, from soil aggregates to entire continents. Initially focused on soil macrofauna, his research now encompasses multitrophic diversity and the ecological interaction networks of all soil organisms. Trait-based approaches play a central role in his work (coordinator of the CESAB BETSI project). Agroecosystems are his primary field of study, while research in (semi-)natural environments helps place his findings into a broader context.
Other roles:
- Co-leader of the research theme “Soil Biodiversity and Ecological Functions” and member of the Executive Committee of the Eco&Sols Joint Research Unit (UMR)
- Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the INRAE Metaprogramme “Biosefair”
- Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the INRAE AgroEcoSystems Department
- Member of the AllEnvi “Soil” Working Group and the “Biodiversity” Cross-Cutting Priority Initiative
