Biodiversity challenges

Biodiversity & health

The relationship between human health and biodiversity is complex. Whether by food transmission (mad cow disease, salmonellosis), vector transmission (West Nile fever, Rift valley fever, tick-borne encephalitis) or simple contact (rabies), the possibilities for interspecific transmission are multiple.

Biodiversity can pose a threat to health, but health and human well-being also benefit from many services. The research aims to better understand the role of ecosystems in the regulation of diseases, pollution and the role of Nature in human well-being.
