Lucie ZINGER
CNRSResearch Fellow at the Centre de Recherche sur la Biodiversité et l’Environnement (CRBE), Toulouse.
Lucie Zinger is an ecologist. Her research lies at the interface between community ecology, macroecology, microbial ecology, molecular biology and bioinformatics.
The main objectives of her research are: (i) to develop a methodological and conceptual framework for techniques based on environmental DNA (eDNA, primarily DNA metabarcoding) in order to (ii) better describe the patterns of diversity in microbial and invertebrate communities and (iii) better understand the ecological and evolutionary processes shaping these patterns in a changing world.
To achieve these objectives, Lucie Zinger employs comparative in situ or experimental approaches deployed in terrestrial environments (such as alpine grasslands or temperate and tropical forests), aquatic environments (primarily marine, through her involvement in the International Census of Marine Microbes and Tara Oceans), or associated with hosts (such as lizards, ants or plants).
In recent years, his work has focused more specifically on the development of field-based DNA analysis tools and the interactions between the aboveground and underground compartments of tropical forests in South America, particularly in the context of global changes (land-use and climate change).
