{"id":4367,"date":"2019-05-16T11:56:33","date_gmt":"2019-05-16T09:56:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fondationbiodiversite.fr\/?page_id=4367"},"modified":"2019-11-18T13:57:08","modified_gmt":"2019-11-18T12:57:08","slug":"acess-benefit-sharing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.fondationbiodiversite.fr\/en\/biodiversity-challenges\/biodiversity-and-regulation\/acess-benefit-sharing\/","title":{"rendered":"Focus on ABS (Access and Benefit-Sharing)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from the use of genetic resources (GR) and associated traditional knowledge (TK) <strong>is intended to restore fairness between providers and users<\/strong> of those resources and knowledge and <strong>contributes to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The FRB has conducted different studies on ABS in order to <strong>support public decision-making<\/strong>, <strong>promote discussions about the implementation of a French ABS regime<\/strong> and <strong>highlight the stakes of this regulation<\/strong> for relevant actors and in particular researchers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In cooperation with the AFB (the French Agency for Biodiversity), a <strong>ABS<\/strong> working group was established in 2018 to support the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol.
