{"id":2281,"date":"2019-02-04T17:47:43","date_gmt":"2019-02-04T16:47:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fondationbiodiversite.fr\/la-frb-en-action\/nos-implications\/biodiversa\/"},"modified":"2026-02-19T11:58:22","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T10:58:22","slug":"biodiversa","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.fondationbiodiversite.fr\/en\/the-frb-in-action\/our-involvement\/biodiversa\/","title":{"rendered":"Biodiversa+"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It supports\u202f <strong>international research<\/strong> \u202fwith a\u202f <strong>direct impact<\/strong> \u202fon public policy and society, with the goal of \u202f<strong>restoring biodiversity by 2030<\/strong> \u202fand \u202fliving in harmony with nature by 2050.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership brings together more than <strong>80 organizations in 40 countries<\/strong> \u202f(funding agencies, ministries, research institutes and environmental bodies) and creates a framework for cooperation linking science, <strong>policy and practice<\/strong> \u202fto support the transition to a sustainable and resilient Europe.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Biodiversa+ focuses on five strategic objectives that constitute the key levers for strengthening the impact of the partnership:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Generating actionable knowledge<\/strong> to combat the direct and indirect drivers of biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation<\/li>\n<li><strong>Improving the monitoring of biodiversity<\/strong> and ecosystem services across Europe<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening the factual database and <strong>facilitating the large-scale development<\/strong> and deployment of Nature-based Solutions (NbS)<\/li>\n<li>To provide <strong>scientific methodologies<\/strong> for assessing ecosystem services and natural capital<\/li>\n<li>Providing scientific support for the development of biodiversity-related <strong>policies at European, national and international levels<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Biodiversa+ the European Biodiversity Partnership\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BIU82whH_PA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #045c82;\">FRB and Biodiversa+<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The FRB hosts most of the Biodiversa+ operational team and ensures the network&#8217;s day-to-day coordination. It plays a central role in facilitating, monitoring, and ensuring the coherence of activities carried out by partners.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the FRB also makes its strategic expertise available to the partnership to lead or co-coordinate several key tasks of the partnership\u202f<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Private sector integration (Work package 3)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">\u2013 Implementation of actions aimed at intensifying joint research and innovation programming between public actors and businesses, in order to promote a more effective integration of biodiversity into economic models and investment decisions<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">\u2013 Creation of success stories highlighting methods and indicators to assess the impacts and dependencies of companies on biodiversity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Knowledge summaries (Work package 4)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">\u2013 Coordination of the production of summaries on priority issues. This work helps to identify knowledge gaps, guide future flagship programs and provide support for public policies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">\u2013 Creation of success stories showing the use of research results to inform public decisions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Internationalization (Workpackage 5)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">\u2013 In connection with the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), Biodiversa+:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>supports the production of new knowledge to fill the gaps identified in IPBES assessments<\/li>\n<li>organizes<strong> capacity building activities at European level<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">\u2013 In connection with the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), Biodiversa+:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>trains European researchers to raise their awareness of CBD processes<br \/>\ncontributes to the promotion and enhancement of scientific knowledge produced in Europe<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">\u2013 In connection with <strong>the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Communication and distribution (Workpackage 6)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">\u2013 Steering and developing communication strategies to make the results of the partnership visible and accessible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">\u2013 Organizing the dissemination of knowledge produced and promoting open science, in order to facilitate its reuse by decision-makers, the scientific community and civil society.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the FRB co-leads, with the ANR and the Ministry of Research, the French Mirror Group of Biodiversa+.
