With the major crisis facing biodiversity, the need to synthesize scientific data in ecology has never been greater. An unprecedented work has been initiated by international experts within IPBES<\/a> to assess the current status of biodiversity and its contribution to human societies. These reports are based on studies already published in scientific journals and databases already compiled. When pooled, these existing data can be used to address new issues, significantly advance knowledge and provide recommendations for decision-makers.<\/p>\n

The CESAB in Montpellier.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Since its creation in 2010, CESAB has been collecting and pooling existing data sets in the field of biodiversity and developing complex statistical methods to assess the state of biodiversity and model its future.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Located in Montpellier, it is at the heart of one of the most dynamic scientific communities in the world in ecology (the University of Montpellier was ranked first in the world in the Shanghai ranking in ecology in 2018 and 2019). CESAB offers an ideal working environment for scientific production.<\/p>\n

Aude Vialatte<\/a> is responsible for Cesab\u2019s scientific direction. Cesab also has a scientific committee<\/a> whose role is to draft and monitor calls for proposals, as well as to oversee Cesab\u2019s working groups and initiatives.\u00a0<\/p>\n

CESAB publishes a newsletter every six months, presenting CESAB’s news and actions, as well as news from the different working groups, past and present.<\/p>\n
