Food-web ecology provides a unique opportunity to better understand the effects of global change on ecosystems. <strong>To this day, studies comparing foodwebs at large spatial and temporal scales are limited by the fact they rely on estimates<\/strong> <strong>of trophic links arising from models.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The project will study foodwebs by bringing together numerous data from isotope analyses at the global scale. <strong>This approach will shed light on how biodiversity and ecosystems respond to global changes.<\/strong> Isotope data will be used to i) investigate the patterns and drivers of food-web structures at broader spatial scales, ii) determine the importance of intraspecific variability in food-webs and iii) understand how energy transfer efficiency is affected by global changes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To this end, several aspects of biodiversity will be studied (taxonomic, functional and phylogenetic) to <strong>develop metrics assessing ecosystem health<\/strong> that will be based on isotope properties in the food-webs.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-34905 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fondationbiodiversite.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/FRB-Cesab_FoodWebs_Photo2026.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fondationbiodiversite.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/FRB-Cesab_FoodWebs_Photo2026.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.fondationbiodiversite.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/FRB-Cesab_FoodWebs_Photo2026-300x180.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #808080; font-size: 12px;\">The Food-Webs group during their 4th workshop at the CESAB in January 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Global environmental change is fundamentally reshaping biological diversity, impacting the functioning of ecosystems and disrupting key ecosystem services provided to humans.
