{"id":18682,"date":"2022-05-02T15:42:49","date_gmt":"2022-05-02T13:42:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fondationbiodiversite.fr\/?page_id=18682"},"modified":"2026-03-18T14:04:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-18T13:04:14","slug":"acoucene","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.fondationbiodiversite.fr\/en\/the-frb-in-action\/programs-and-projects\/le-cesab\/acoucene\/","title":{"rendered":"ACOUCENE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Regional-level strategies for biodiversity conservation necessitate networks of connected habitats in which species can circulate free of any anthropogenic barrier all along their lifecycle. <strong>The idea of a similar network for soundscapes, the acoustic component of landscapes, has emerged to protect animal species interacting through sounds.<\/strong> This network, coined the \u201cwhite thread\u201d, would contribute to warrant the integrity of soundscapes, as required by a French parliament law voted on January 29, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A reference state for continental France\u2019s white thread is necessary but faces the lack of direct recordings of soundscapes. <strong>ACOUCENE<\/strong> <strong>will tackle this aim through model-based soundscapes reconstruction, focusing on a flagship indicator of biodiversity declines, bird sounds.<\/strong> <strong>ACOUCENE<\/strong> will proceed in four stages :<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the construction of soundscapes from bird sounds recordings gathered from citizen-science databases, paired with bird community composition data from atlas and breeding bird surveys ;<\/li>\n<li>a network-based model of the white thread and of its predicted variations due to bird community changes in the 30 last years;<\/li>\n<li>predictions on its future in the face of climate and land use changes: <strong>ACOUCENE<\/strong> aims to predict the influence of bird community changes on the soundscapes of continental France;<\/li>\n<li>the identification of high-patrimonial value areas based on the characteristics of the white thread.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Regional-level strategies for biodiversity conservation necessitate networks of connected habitats in which species can circulate free of any anthropogenic barrier all along their lifecycle.
