His main research focus is the evolutionary ecology of interacting species in spatially structured environments (metacommunities and meta-ecosystems), ranging from plant\u2013pollinator interactions to host\u2013parasite systems evolving across networks. More broadly, his work is highly interdisciplinary, with a particular emphasis on the mathematical and statistical modelling of networks. He founded Peer Community in Ecology.
